The Parramatta & Hills Ukulele Network (PHUN) was established in April 2008 by Arthur & Denise Ongley, and hosted by Parramatta Baptist Church.
It was born from a desire to connect with, and give something beneficial to the community.
Arthur and Denise decided to gather ukulele loving people together for an informal time of community music-making and friendship, and to provide opportunities to learn and play the ukulele.
Since then, PHUN has become a vibrant musical community made up of people who have discovered the joy of making music, making friends, and sharing the joy of both with others.

At PHUN, everybody strums, everybody sings, and everybody has fun. PHUN is a welcoming, friendly and open community. Anyone can come and become involved in discovering and exploring ukulele music, and sharing musical joy with others.
PHUN’s vision is: “To establish a happy, warm and friendly ukulele group that people love to attend; an open community where those who participate feel welcome, valued, encouraged and supported as they learn, play and share a ukulele-based musical journey together.”
It has been shown that playing music has positive health benefits, as shown in this research:
